+ What is Advocacy?

+ Advocacy Public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy (Dictionary Definition) The profession or work of a legal advocate IN SUPPORT FOR, BACKING OF, PROMOTION OF, CHAMPIONING OF; MAKES AN ARGUMENT FOR, PUSHES FOR a cause. Also an advocate pleads on someone else’s behalf

+ Importance of Advocating Brings about and captures any social or political issues. Current events or relevant natural disasters that relate to your organization. Helps surface topics and issues specific to your organization that other counsel members may not be familiar with.

+ What needs to be addressed when advocating for an issue/problem POINTING out the problem and WHO it is affecting RESULTS of the issue if not addressed to the public/certain audience FACTS, STATISTICS, POLICIES that deal with the issue you are advocating for SOLUTIONS to the problem QUESTIONS for clarity

+ TOPICS that deserve advocacy SERIOUS TOPICS that can be related to current events CURRENT issues that are affecting your community/cultural organization PROBLEMS that could be addressed to get support from others who it may not be affecting, in order to build more advocacy

+ WHY DO WE ADVOCATE??

+ WE ADVOCATE : We advocate for the benefit of those who can't speak up for themselves We advocate on behalf of loved ones both near and far, living and dead We advocate to make the world a better place, according to our own definition of a "better place" -We advocate to protect our health, well-being and livelihood -We advocate to help those less fortunate, whether we know them or not
