Creating A Macro For Your Word Header Instructor: Glenda H. Easter ITSW 1401, Intro to Word Processing

To Record a Macro Select New Document Press Alt/T for the Tools menu Select M for Macro Click Record There will be three options available. All three of these methods work; however, it is faster to select the option for the Keyboard. See the next slide for an example.

Select a shortcut key. A good shortcut key would be H for Header. To select the key, press the Ctrl key and the letter H.

Key in Your Personal Header Information Type your name and press Enter. Insert a date code by pressing Alt/I for Insert. Either press the down arrow three times or select Date and Time with your mouse. Select the proper date format, for example: April 13, 2000 Click the Update Automatically Dialog Box

After selecting the correct date format, press the enter key. Type Lesson: and press the spacebar twice before pressing the Enter Key. Type Page: and press the spacebar twice before pressing the Enter Key twice. Stop the macro. See next screen for stopping the macro.
