Job Overview Underwater welders repair ships, bridges, oil drilling platforms, pipelines, and other underwater structures Underwater welders must be certified divers, and must be able to adapt to working in different environments Underwater welders must photgraph projects then recommend and prepare supplies and equipment

Interest in career I am interested in being an underwater welder because I like working in new environments and I love exploring Underwater welding suits me because I love the ocean, since the first time I went to vancouver and jumped in the pacififc its been a love of mine ever since.

Education Underwater welders must have a commercial divers certification Under water welder must be a certified welder Its recommended that welders take certification in underwater welding support tasks

Salary AnnualUnderwater welders salaries range from 15,000 – 100,000 Diving methods, depth, and diving environments often determine the amount paid for a project If you often do very dangerous and large projects, some welders have earned up to 300,000 a year

Working Conditions Being an Underwater welder is extremely dangerous Many underwater welders die or later become sick from welding fumes An underwater welders career is based on 3 months off and 1 month of work throughout the year You are expected to travel a lot to new destinations to work on projects all over the world
