Guinea Pigs by: Sam Secondo

Babies They are born 63 days after the parents mate. A female guinea pig can have babies when they are 12 weeks old. The wild guinea pigs are born in the open ground. At first they have to drink from their mothers milk. Newborn babies are 3 ounces

Life Cycle First they may or may not be born in a litter. Then the mom nurses them. After 4 days they can eat solid food. After 5 months they are fully grown.

Wild Guinea Pigs They come from south America. They make there homes between rocks and barrows. Wild guinea pigs live in a family group in the high mountains.

Food If they are wild they eat grass and other little plants and little water. They must be fed one slice of fruit. They enjoy vegetables like carrots, peppers, broccoli, beans and green leaves. They also like strawberries, apples, grapes, and melons.

Interesting facts Guinea pigs are quite sociable. If the guinea pig falls it can break its front teeth. It can be friends with a kitten. But rabbets tend to ignore them or worse kick them.

test Were do guinea pigs come from? How many days are the babies born after their parents mate? How much does a new born babby weigh? If they are in the wild what do they eat?
