Welcome to Mrs. Betsy Campbell’s First Grade Classroom Please sign the Sign-In Sheet and find your child’s desk.

A little information about myself My name is Betsy Hall Campbell. I graduated from Lambuth University in This is my 34 th year to teach at McKenzie Elementary School. I am married to Keith Campbell. We have 2 wonderful sons, Brian and Brad. My family owns Campbell Well Drilling in McKenzie. I enjoy cooking, reading, walking, animals, and outdoor sports.

grades First Graders will receive grades in: READING- Oral Reading and Vocabulary/Comprehension on Friday MATH-every chapter test SPELLING-one test every Friday CONDUCT-S,N,U are given according to color changes. An N or U will keep a student off of the Honor or Merit Roll. Explanation of color changes is in your folder. ***If your child fails Reading or Math, they will be retained the next school year.

Grading System Our Grading Scale A B85-92 C75-84 D70-74 FBelow 70 – Our Math and Spelling test will be on a 100% scale. Weekly Oral Reading tests count 25% and Weekly Vocabulary/Comprehension tests count 75% of the total weekly grade.

Classroom Fee/Supplies There is a $2.00 classroom fee for your child’s writing paper. You can pay with cash or write a check to McKenzie Elementary School and put it in the envelope on your child’s desk. You have a detailed supply list in your folder. Please remember a pencil bag, white glue, and wooden pencils.

First Grade Birthday Policy Birthday party invitations can be passed out as long as there is one for every student in the class. To celebrate your child’s birthday, you may send a light snack for the class that follows the food policy guidelines found on our MES website.

Please leave tonight… I only need these 2 things before you leave tonight: 1. Transportations sheet about the first day of school and days after 2. Information sheet You may look over the other papers in your folder and send them to school with your child on Monday.
