Presentation transcript:

Prokaryote = 1 celled organisms that lack a nucleus or other structures bound by a membrane. They have been on Earth the Longest. Eukaryote = organisms whose cells contain a nucleus surrounded by a membrane.

 Organelles = tiny organs inside a cell that help it function.

 Each living cell is made up of several working parts. These Parts are called organelles. They are kind of like the organs of a whole living organism.  9 Facts about cells. 9 Facts about cells.  200 – 300 cell types. 200 – 300 cell types.

Gel-like mixture that fills in all the empty space and surrounds organelles. Transports materials and has ribosomes. Transports materials make fat and breaks down harmful chemicals. Receive instructions from the nucleus to make protein Packages Proteins Makes Energy for the Cell. Glucose (food) + O2 are used to make ATP (energy molecule) + H20 + C02 for the cell. Stores food and water for the cell. Contains the DNA. It is the brain of cell. This surrounds all cells and controls what goes in and out. Cleans and digests bad stuff from the cell Surrounds the Nucleus

Plants only have this structure. It provides a skeleton for the plant to stand up and provide support Plants only have this structure. Inside of each chloroplast is clorophyll that captures sunlight and makes it into energy
