Evgeni Plushenko was born on the 3 of November in He started skating at the age of four. When he was eleven he left Volgograd and moved to Saint Petersburg to continue training.

Plushenko made a quick progress. In 1995 he won World Junior Figure Skating Championship. After that he won most of the competitions he entered in the following five years.

The main achievement in his career of a figure skater was the 2006 Olympics. He won the first prize. After that Plushenko took a break from skating to rest and recover. It lasted until 2009 when he became the Russian champion for the eighth time.

In his fourth Olympic Games in 2014 he won the second place after the short programme in the team event.

On the 13 of February in 2014 he had to take part in the individual event but he didn’t because of his backache. He announced that he had decided to finish his career. Evgeni has a lot of medals and the four Olympic medals are among them.
