defined as an individual who: delivers, manages, trains and/or supervises services for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Mental Health (MH) needs. staff working in units of county, state or provincial government, Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDPs), program directors, program supervisors, case/care managers, program specialists, supports coordinators, peer specialists, trainers and others. 3

Masters in related field with 1 year experience, or; Bachelor’s in related field with 2 years of experience, or; 60 credit hours in the IDD and/or MH field with 3 years of experience, or; High school diploma with a thorough description and explanation of experience. 6
Experience in support of persons with IDD/MH Commitment to ethical behavior. Applicant endorses and signs the NADD Ethical Standards Statement NADD membership is required. This can be individual or organization NADD membership 3 letters of reference Application fee 7
Once the application credentials have been approved; Applicant will receive instructions to submit a work sample relative to the work performed by the applicant. An interview is the final component in the process. This is generally done by telephone. The applicant’s work sample will be discussed at this time. If the applicant passes, then the specialist will receive the NADD certification and is entitled to use “NADD-DDS” as a credential. 8
