6/27/2003 Event Rate Estimation -2 NuTel Video Conference 6/27/2003 M.A. Huang

6/27/2003 Changes since June 13th Rerun shower simulation at eV using HiRes attenuation table. –Distance at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 km –Attenuation length ~ 16 km Corsika attenuation table: ~ 9 km Trigger condition: –In 3x3 pixels, 2 p.e. at center, and total of 6 p.e. in 8 surrounding pixels Total # of events in MC=2  10 6

6/27/ p.e./m 2 old RpRp V D Detector - Neutrino plane New simulation at D=10km, reduce range from 2.4 km to 0.9 km. Mean D  10 km in old simulation, D  20 km in new simulation. Range of impact parameter 5 p.e./m 2 new 8 p.e./m 2

6/27/2003 Full FOV The hot zone at h=-5º to -8º (D < 10 km) in old simulation disappear in the new simulation.  Great reduction in acceptance. Peak of Loa and Kea disappear! Too far! Peak of Loa and Kea visible! 5 p.e./m 2 old5 p.e./m 2 new8 p.e./m 2
