Mouth, Nose & Throat Cancers Tom Tom Angelico

Mouth, Nose & Throat Cancers Tom Tom Angelico What causes the cancer? What causes these cancers is to scientists but they do know that smoking and alcohol are risk factors. Of the people that are affected by these cancers 80% are smokers of cigarettes, cigars or pipes. People who are heavy drinkers are also at a high risk. Despite this there are people affected by the cancer who have never had tobacco or alcohol, meaning that there are other causes that remain unknown. Another cancer in this category is cancer of the lip, which is mostly caused by over exposure to sunlights ultraviolet radiation. Pipe smokers are also putting themselves at risk of this cancer. Cancers of the nose are often caused by inhaling hardwood dust and certain chemicals. These inhalings usually happen in the workplace. Avoiding these things will help you avoid the cancer: Smoking cigarettes, cigars or pipes. Drinking heavily. Avoid over exposure to the suns rays. Using a facemask when in situations where you can inhale hardwood dust or chemicals.

Mouth, Nose & Throat Cancers Tom Tom Angelico What are the symptoms? Sores in the mouth that don’t heal. Swelling, lumps or mouth or neck thickening. Persistent blocked nose. Persistent ear ache. A white or red patch on the gum, tongue or mouth lining. This is either leukoplakia or erthroplakia. Cough, sore throat or feeling something caught in your throat. A blood-stained sputum or mucus. A change in voice, such as hoarseness. Pains in the mouth and throat area. Difficulties moving the jaw or tongue, chewing or swallowing. Numbness in the mouth. Lymph nodes swelling.

Mouth, Nose & Throat Cancers Tom Tom Angelico What cures are there? Treatment for mouth, throat and nose cancers usually involves surgery to take out the cancer, radiotherapy possibly with chemotherapy to destroy the cancer or a combination of these treatments. The surgery can leave you with temporary or permanent side-affects like needing a tube to supply your body with food and nutrients or needing to learn how to swallow or speak again.
