European Training Session 5: “Deepening the Understanding of Inquiry in Natural Sciences” Analysing the class visits: inquiry at the primary school Using the Fibonacci IBSE Diagnostic Tool for CPD Providers to analyse a science session

Today’s objectives  Share our personal evaluations of the class visits using the IBSE Diagnostic Tool for CPD Providers  To analyse these evaluations  To reflect on the specificities of IBSE at the primary school level

Agenda  Individually, finish filling the form (15 min.)  Work in subgroups: share class visits and identify specificities of IBSE at primary school (45 min.)  Whole group discussion: drawing conclusions (30 min.)

Work in subgroups (45 min)  Share your general impressions of the class visits (5 min)  Identify and discuss any disagreements on specific items (20 min)  Make a poster with (20 min):  list of NA items because of the age of the pupils (i.e.: children this age can’t be expected to do this) within each subsection  a list of the items within each subsection which you consider a priority for pupils at this age

Whole group discussion: drawing conclusions (30 min.)  Compare our posters  Agree on one common poster for the whole group, to be presented in the plenary session  Decide on a speaker for our group
