Communicating For Success Presented by Paula Mullin 31 st May 2011

To challenge you to think differently about yourself To recognise that you have a choice to change To gain clarity on what makes you different To identify the communications challenges you face To learn how to let go of limiting beliefs To learn how to better understand your audience To become a more confident communicator and Communicate for Success The Purpose

How do I add most value? What do people regularly say I am good at? If I think of a time that I significantly influenced others what specifically did I do? When do I feel most confident and control in my work? How does my company or client benefit from my approach? What makes me unique?

CLARITY CONVICTION

When do I feel less than confident in my work? Could I be a better communicator? If so how could I improve? Are there times when I wish I could be better in my role, if so when? What do I consistently worry about in my work? What do I see in others that I would like to see in myself? What do I find challenging?

“I always get really nervous before I speak in front of a large audience” “I make a mess of securing actual business because I hate discussing the fee” “Other people are much better than me at communicating their views at meetings” “I am not confident enough to share my creative ideas – what if they are not good enough” “I am ok at what I do, I will never be great”

Transforming Limiting Beliefs Identifying the evidence that does NOT support it Define a new more empowering belief and re-programme through affirmations Recognition of limiting beliefs that have held you back

“ It is the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief and once that belief becomes a deep conviction things begin to happen” – Muhammad Ali

“ To effectively communicate we must realise that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to communicating with others” – Anthony Robbins

What is motivating this individual? What communication style does this person use? Assertive/ Reflective/ Impatient/ Measured/ Energetic? How is this individual viewing this meeting/ encounter? What type of language does this person respond best to? What is the best outcome for this meeting/ encounter? Do I know my audience?

To challenge you to think differently about yourself To recognise that you have a choice to change To gain clarity on what makes you different To identify the communications challenges you face To learn how to let go of limiting beliefs To learn how to better understand your audience To become a more confident communicator and Communicate for Success The Purpose
