Art for Recovery Theme: Spiritual Growth By: Felicia Turner

What is Art for Recovery? A non-profit organization that helps patients with life threatening illnesses. Studio time for Patients to do art to help them heal, and express themselves through art. A place where patients feel safe being their own self.

Dreams becoming realities: My first idea for my project. What I wanted to do? How could my mentor help me? How would the people involved benefit from doing my project? How would I make it possible?

Questions(for students): 1.Where/what is your fantasy place where you find peace? 2.Who is the person that has influenced you most in your life? 3.What makes you feel better? 4.What do you think happens when you die? Can you sketch that place….. 5.How do you heal when difficulties arise?

Creation

Week 1: Students worked on the pieces to go into my window. Getting their feelings out in an art piece. Were they excited about my project?

Week 2: Is the background exciting for the window? Will it attract people walking by? Is a background really needed?

Week 3: Installing my window was a challenge. The final project was bright, and exciting to help brighten up the display window. I had pictures and the questions up in the window. To better be able to understand the overall project.

Week 4 (The final Hoorah): I finally finished my window, and felt confident that in leaving my internship I accomplished a lot, and had fun doing it.

Final Project:

Thank You Thank you Cindy for being my guiding light. Thank you Sherri for sticking by me.
