Children, Young People and Families Alliance Consultation and Event Feedback Representing the Voluntary Sector

Events 3 venues across the county Children, young people and families coming together with professionals and decision makers Collectively identifying priorities Built on co-design and other engagement activities Since the start of engagement; –Over 400 children and young people involved –Over 50 parents –Over 200 professionals

Protective Factors Child Friends Food Shelter Fun Achievement Safe Places to play Family/Parents Trusted adult Feeling wanted Learning Access to opportunities Love Suitable home Attachment Warmth Sleep

We are all Ears…

Priorities from children and young people Access to outdoor play. All ages of children and young people want to be able to make the most of their natural environment to promote both emotional and physical health and wellbeing. Improving access to opportunities via improved transport and pedestrian access. Building the resilience of young people clearer recognition of bullying, low level depression, stress and more opportunities to have a key trusted adult who could provide support outside the home.

Priorities They also want greater opportunities to engage with their community via work experience and volunteering. Space to express themselves through education out of the classroom and wider opportunities for creativity. Increased work on keeping young people safe, stable and within loving families – creating family resilience.

Priorities from children with additional needs Families and siblings are the most important people in their lives and they want to be able to do things together Children enjoy School and like their teachers and support workers, however continuity is key and change can be very confusing and disruptive Children want to take part in the same activities as other children like swimming, cinema etc. but need more things to do at the weekend Providing young people with more information and preparation on transitions to adult services/independent living is very important. Young people feel their voice isn’t always heard or listened to

Priorities from parents Help parents to help themselves Access to opportunities in the local area Buggy friendly buses. Single point of contact for parenting advice More info on next steps for children in one place from immunisations to school admissions Low level, practical support can make a big difference.

Stakeholder Priorities Building professional trust Collaboration across agencies to create supportive community environments Improving information and connections for the team around the child

And some fun…

Lessons Learned System of continual engagement Better reach to key stakeholders Small, local, personal conversations

Next Steps Local issues to be followed up. We need to demonstrate action on issues raised. The priority’s pose challenges about how we are organised and who we engage now and in the future.

Thank you Alliance Advisors We have said thank you to all the children with Certificates most presented in school. Ongoing engagement up until Christmas.
