Importance of teaching PDHPE to kids - Loretta Pham

 Personal Development is learning about how our body transforms and develops as we grow up.  Health is learning about what is healthy for our body and how to take care of it to stay fit.  Physical Education is getting involved in sports and physical activity to keep our mind and body healthy.

 To help kids learn about themselves, their bodies and educate them in:  Growth and development (e.g. body image & sexual education)  Interpersonal relationships (e.g. bullying)  Personal health choices (e.g. nutrition & drug education)  Safe living (e.g. road safety & child protection)  Games, sports and dance (i.e. fundamental movement skills)  Active lifestyle (i.e. gender issues & physical activity) - K-6 PDHPE Syllabus

 By weight, bone is five times stronger than steel.  Fidgeting can burn about 350 calories a day.  When you take a step, you are using up to 200 muscles.  A person can live without food for about a month, but only about a week without water.  Lack of water is the number one trigger of daytime fatigue.  Scientists estimate that laughing 100 times is equivalent to a 10-minute workout on a rowing machine.
