Who can be President? You must be at least 35 years old You must be a native-born citizen You must have been a resident of the United States for the last 14 years.

What is the President’s Job? The President has the duty of fulfilling several roles. 1. Chief of Party – head of his/her political party 2. Chief Executive – granted all executive powers Chief Administrator – official head of the gov’t 4. Chief Legislator – shapes/enforces U.S. laws 5. Chief Diplomat – creates/imposes foreign and domestic policy 6. Chief of State – Symbol of the U.S. gov’t 7. Chief Citizen – the “model” U.S. citizen 8. Commander in Chief – head of the armed forces

What powers does the President Have? Executive Powers Executive Privilege – power to withhold any information from the public Executive Order – directive that all citizens must follow. War Powers Resolution – power to place combat soldiers anywhere in the world for up to 60 days without approval from Congress
