The Three Cities
There are three cities: Cospicua ( In Maltese it is Bormla) Vittorisa ( In Maltese it is Birgu) Senglea ( In Maltese it is Isla)
Cospicua ( in Maltese is called Bormla) is a double fortified harbour city on the Mediterranean island of Malta. It is the largest of the three cities. It was also given a title as Citta’ Cottorena, but erroneously the title is now to defined the whole region. It is situated between the other two town which make up Cottorena which are Vittorisa and Seglea.
These three towns form part of the area surrounding the Grand Harbour are found on the eastern side of the capital city Valletta. Its population is of 5,642 (Nov 2005). Cospicua is found here
Vittorisa Vittorisa ( in Maltese is called Birgu) is an ancient city in Malta. It played a vital role in the Siege of Malta in Its population stood at 2,633 in December It is a very old locality on the south side of the Grand Harbour in Malta with its origins reaching back to medieval times.

Senglea Senglea ( in Maltese is called Isla) is a fortified city in the east of Malta, mainly in the Grand Harbour area. The City of Senglea is also called Civitas Invicta, because it managed to resist the Ottoman invasion at the Great Siege in It’s proper name is Senglea since the grandmaster who built it Claude de la Senglea gave this city a part of his name.
