Infrared Thermography (IRT) for identifying failed cavity wall insulation Things to be aware of: -Thermal images can be manipulated to hide the truth -they can also be used to sell products or services which may not be required. What to check: - You use the correct camera for the job -A fully qualified thermographer (ITC level 1) carries out the inspection -They adhere to the strict conditions required - The survey or has no vested interest in the outcome

Surveying conditions Temperature differential of 10degC Dry, no water on the surface Wind speed less than 10m/s Evening/Night-time surveys only

Example of missing insulation

Why IRT over the other options? This house was surveyed and cavity filled poorly by a contractor. Then another contractor extracted and re-filled the cavity, then issued a CIGA guarantee. We were commissioned to tell the owner the truth. Green is filled, red is void. The image is incredibly clear and provides all the information the client needed to pursue the contractor. “I set up IRT to provide honest advice. We do not sell products and we have never taken commission to alter our images. Infrared can be easily manipulated and cameras are now dangerously cheap. IRT offer a unique service. We love our clients and listen closely to their feedback. Their opinions have been vital in developing our services. If speed, quality, service, value and impartiality are important to you – then rest assured – that’s what we offer”. Stewart Little CEO
