Consider software which has been well proven in your industry and the critical aspects of your business. Involve a wide business team in the selection. Lead the selection process from Board level. Avoid endless analysis and detailed evaluation. Focus on the processes which are peculiar to your business. Do not allow software selection to become an IT led process. Seek some external independent advice.
