Impressionism

What Are the Key Characteristics of Impressionism? Light and its reflection. Quickly painted surfaces (or the appearance of quickly painted surfaces). Dots, dashes, commas and other short brushstrokes. Modern life as the subject matter.

Impressionist Paintings; Paris Street ;Rainy Day- Gustave Caillebotte Impressionism Sunrise- Claude Monet

Contemporar y

Banksy In my opinion, I think that Banksy is the most well-known contraverisal contemporary artist. < This article claims that they know who Banksy is but the majority of people on the internet say that this is fake.

Yayoi Kusama Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist and writer. Throughout her career she has worked in a wide variety of media, including painting collage, sculpture, performance art, and environmental installations. Kusama influenced contemporaries such as Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg. Kusama's work is based in conceptual art and shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism

Comparison Impressionism From looking at an impressionism painting I can see that it took a lot of time and patience to create these art pieces. So I can see where a person comes from if they think that contemporary work is nothing to impressionism. These people believe that contemporary art shouldn’t be called art because it does not require skill, creativity or talent. Contemporary Todays art has changed from what is has been before. Contemporary art has developed with the changes along with the times. However, some contemporary artists can do a technique of realism or another art form. In my opinion I see some contemporary artwork and I wouldn't understand it but for other people the artwork would mean something to them and they enjoy the artwork. Plus the artist may have put a lot of time and effort into their piece.
