Chapter 12 ELECTRIC CHARGE
STATIC ELECTRIC CHARGE Positive electric charge When a glass rod is rubbed on asilk cloth, the rod develops a positive charge.
Negative electric charge When an ebonite rod is rubbed on woolen cloth,a negative charge develops. Like charges repel each other, unlike charges attract each other.
TRANSFER AND INDUCTION OF ELECTRIC CHARGE The minute particles with a negative charge are called electrons. The substance from which particles are removed loses electric charge. An atom does not have any charge.
ELECTRIC INDUCTION The action of electric charges which takes place when two bodies are brought close together is called ELECTRIC INDUCTION.
THE ELECTROSCOPE The electroscope is a simple device used to identify electric charge . The moving apart of the leaves of the electroscope is the test for finding out if the is charged.
