More on Analysis How to get into Trouble without really trying!

Exercise 7a Pretty straightforward selection Analysis Find all Ag Parcels that are completely within Ag Cover Make map and report for planning board

Exercise 7b A bit more complex So to make it a little easier you will be using a subset of the parcel data This way you won’t be swamped by a huge table! BUT – you still have to be careful!!!!!!

PLAN! In fact, we are going to do that right now in class The problem is to identify Ag landuse parcels and make a map showing the percent the parcels are Ag Cover and NOT Ag cover. Actually, what we are going to do in class is a subset of the 7b problem.

Some Hints When you export a feature class from the selected set of features in another feature class… EDIT THE TABLE FIRST –In properties/fields check off the fields that will not be used in the final product –When you export the data the unchecked fields will not be exported –And you DO have to think about this

Hints Continued THINK – What? Yes – you must make sure all the fields you will need to… –Do the analysis –Do any joins Will be in the final product And not too many other fields Use aliases to make the field names in any joined tables shorter

OK Here is the problem Planning board, for some reason, wants to know the percentage of hardwood forest cover in tax parcels Assume we have the set of parcels

And Land Cover What’s next?
