LEARN Integration Deniz Gurkan and Charles Chambers University of Houston 11/02/2010 GEC9 – ORCA-D. Gurkan, LEARN

Plans for Spiral 3 Complete deployment of ORCA container at Univ Houston, including service manager, broker(s) and site authoritie(s) – almost done. Complete deployment of a Cisco switch at each of four campuses: Univ Houston, Rice Univ, Texas A&M Univ, and UT-Auston, all assigned and controlled by the site authorities at Univ Houston. (Also host a small Eucalyptus cluster at UH and Rice University – pending confirmation from Rice: – An emulation network in the lab is being tested for QinQ and handlers for Cisco 3400s. 11/02/2010 GEC9 – ORCA-D. Gurkan, LEARN

Plans for Spiral 3 Complete integration of each campus with the LEARN network and NLR, to provide on-demand L2 (VLAN) transport from a cluster on each campus to the NLR backbone network, via a L2 connection or a tunnel. Participate in defining a plan for naming and stitching L2 connectivity across Cluster D. Participate in developing a plan for monitoring and troubleshooting the L2 connectivity from NLR, through LEARN, and to each campus, utilizing the evolving commercial protocols and capabilities. Operate the ORCA instance at Univ Houston to provide Eucalyptus cluster resources and connectivity, on any of the four campuses, on demand, to GENI experimenters. Provide operational support, and export operational status to the GMOC. Implement the GENI AM API, and authenticate users via InCommon/Shibboleth identity providers, when these capabilities are provided by enhanced ORCA code. 11/02/2010 GEC9 – ORCA-D. Gurkan, LEARN

Plans for Spiral 3 Option to add: One-day workshop (~February 2011) with researchers at institutions in TX – Integration of research experiments on the GENI infrastructure (to be up through ORCA-LEARN project). – Challenges of research activities on a production network (LEARN). – Existing connectivity with campuses and what is available for research. – Invite outside experts on management of infrastructures with production and research data flow. – In addition, other existing researchers in TX institutions will be contacted for possible integration opportunities with ORCA. 11/02/2010 GEC9 – ORCA-D.
