STARTER: TIMED QUESTION Outline the characteristics of an affective disorder (10). Have a go at this question without your notes. You should have reviewed for homework. You have 12 minutes 15 with AT If you finish: How do you think operant conditioning could be used to treat dysfunctional behaviour?

Activity: create a quiz with answers so that you can test your classmates on your category. Therapies for Dysfunctional Behaviour - You can use the therapies we learnt during the ‘disorder’ section - We are also going to learn 2 knew studies, to be used as support for the bio, and cognitive approaches & keep McGrath for behavioural Group A: behavioural therapy (McGrath) Group B: biological therapy (Leibowitz) Group C: cognitive therapy (Ost & Westling) Activity 1: recapping Disorder therapies

How would we go about answering this question?

IntroductionThere are many different ways of explaining dysfunctional behaviour, and some explanations may be more appropriate for certain disorders than others. P1The biological explanation assumes that behaviour is the result of genetics, chemical imbalances or brain structure. A strength of this is that there is evidence to support the explanation: Gottesman as evidence and supporting evidence for Gottesman. Treatment… P2 (counter- argument) However, they did not find 100% concordance between MZ twins, if a dysfunctional behaviour was completely genetic we would expect very high levels of concordance between those who share the most DNA.
