Nelson Mandela The man who changed South Africa!

Nelson Mandela Born 18 th of July. Is still alive but is 92 years old. Nelson Rohihlahla Mandela, was the first South African president to be elected in a fully democratic election. He was also the first black President of South Africa, leading the African National Congress to victory in 1994

ANC In 1961 he abandoned peaceful protest and became head of the ANC's new military wing. Sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964, Mandela came to symbolize black political needs and was named head of the ANC after his release from prison in witch he spent most of his 27 years, in a space smaller than the SMART board on February 11 th,1990.

Rugby Even before the apartheid laws were introduced to South Africa in 1948, the Springboks had been an all white team. The team became a symbol of racial division within South Africa. The president worked with Francois Pienaar the Springbok captain who captained an all but one white squad, to win the world cup and that secured a lot of support from the white South Africans who, as he expressed to his secretary They would rise up if he had abolished their “Bokkie” Pride.
