Hurricane Preparedness for Texans with Special Needs

If you live in an and have special needs, you must make extra efforts for prepare for hurricane season.

Texans with Special Needs Include: All people who need help evacuating and cannot make arrangements for a ride out with family, friends or neighbors.

Texans in Evacuation Zones including: People with disabilities The medically fragile People with special health care needs People who do not have transportation People who cannot drive must plan carefully for emergencies.

If you have a disability or special health care needs AND you can drive, or have friends, family or neighbors to assist you in evacuating… YOU STILL NEED TO: Make an Evacuation Plan Prepare an Emergency Kit Learn the evacuation route Discuss your plans with the people who will be assisting you.

If you live in a hurricane evacuation zone and you need transportation assistance call: to register in advance for a ride.

Operators at: are prepared to help you register for transportation assistance.

Operators answering the phones at can tell you if you live in an evacuation zone.
