The Story of Atalanta By Bethany Dickey

Atalanta’s Birth  Atalanta’s parents were Schoeneus and Iasos.  She was raised by bears.

Marriage  She refused to marry anyone, but said yes to Hippomenes, with one condition.

Atalanta’s Condition  Atalanta would only marry Hippomenes if he could beat her in a race.

Aphrodite  Aphrodite gave him three golden apples.

The Race  He threw the golden apples into her path.

The Prince Wins  The prince beat Atalanta, and she found out that he had tricked her.

Happily Ever After  She realized that he just wanted to marry her, and they lived happily ever after.
