Introduction Paragraph Must include… 1.A Lead that opens the essay for the reader. 2.Background Context that helps the reader understand the topic. 3.A Thesis Statement that clearly expresses THREE reasons.

Background Paragraph Must include… sentences. 2.Explanation of the qualities of a “great leader” in general. 3.Specific references to material you have read about leadership.

Body Paragraphs 1.Must explain each of your reasons stated in your Thesis. 2.Must provide TWO pieces of directly cited Historical Evidence. 3.Show how your evidence works to validate your reason!

Conclusion 1.Do Not assume that you have nothing left to say! 2.Make an impression on your reader- it is the last thing they will read within your essay. 3.Do Not use “in conclusion,…”

Editing and Revising 1.Editing is about finding structural mistakes and fixing them. 2.Revising is about making changes in the way you have expressed your argument or ideas.
