Hi, my name if Freddy Frog.

I live in the By-Way swamp.

My best friends are Sammy Snake, Marty Muskrat, Harold Heron, and Danny Dragonfly.

One day I was sitting on my favorite big green lily pad leaf in the hot summer sun.

Along came Sammy snake.

“Hi Sammy, where are ya goin?”

“I’m on my way to Danny Dragonfly’s house. He has invited me for lunch.” Danny said and swam away.

“Gee, I wish I had a friend to have lunch with,” said Freddy to himself.

Then he remembered that Marty the Muskrat was always fun to visit and he never had to call ahead. So, off he swam into the dark and scary cattail forest.

Marty muskrat was just getting ready to fix lunch and today he was planning a delicious moss salad, when Carl Crow hollered, “Freddy’s comin for a visit!”

Meanwhile, Freddy was swimming and swimming and it got darker and darker. And Freddy was getting scareder and scareder!

Just as he thought the scary cat tail forest would gobble him up, the sun came out and the day was beautiful!

Freddy decided to sing as he swam, and was really getting into a beautiful ostinato with the music of nature when…

He heard Marty Muskrat hollering back to Carl Crow.

“Oh good!,” said Freddy, I was just starving, I wonder what’s for lunch at Marty’s house?

Marty and Freddy sat down to a nice toadstool table and ate their delicious moss salad before Freddy announced that he would have to leave or travel in the dark.

We all know that Freddy would not like to go through the cat tail forest at night!

Just as the sun was setting, Freddy arrived home after a most satisfying day.
