Why do we give gifts? How do you feel when someone gives you a gift?

When you become a member of the church Heavenly Father gives you a precious gift Can’t be bought with money Can’t hold it in our hands or see it Worth more than any other gift Receive by the laying on of hands

What is this gift you receive? What do you know about the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost 33 rd member of godhead SSpirit – without a body TTeaches us about Heavenly Father & Jesus BBears witness of the truth SSent to help us Choose the Right

Faith in Jesus Christ Repentance Baptism Gift of the Holy Ghost

Fourth Article of Faith WWe believe that the first four principles and ordinances of the gospel are: FFirst – faith in the lord Jesus Christ SSecond - Repentance TThird – Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins FFourth – laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost

HHe ate one last supper with his friends – the 12 apostles The Last Supper TThe night before Jesus was crucified: HHe knew they would be sad after he died HHe knew they would need help HHe promised to send someone to help and comfort them.

John 14:26 But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. What is another name for the Comforter?

Song – “The Holy Ghost” When Christ was on the earth, He promised he would send The Holy Ghost to comfort us, Our true, eternal friend. The Holy Spirit whispers with a still small voice. He testifies of God and Christ and makes our hearts rejoice. And when we are confirmed By sacred priesthood pow’r, The Holy Ghost is giv’n to us To guide us ev’ry hour. Oh, may I always listen to that still small voice. And with his light I’ll do what’s right each time I make a choice.

CCompanionship is greatest gift in our life We are like the Apostles HHoly ghost will comfort us HHe will help us make choices & guide us HHelp us when we are afraid or hurt HHelp us know the truth

She loved the town and the people who lived there. Jan had lived most of her life in a small farming town. Often Jan thought how wonderful it was to live in a town that was so full of friendly people.

He told the family that he was changing his job. One day, Jan’s father came home from work. They would be moving to a larger city. How do you think Jan felt?

It was hard for her to think that soon she was going to leave her friends, home, school, and ward behind. Jan felt sad and upset each time she thought of moving. Jan was worried. She wondered if she would have a hard time making new friends. What would her new home and ward be like?

Jan decided to pray and ask Heavenly Father for help. No one was able to help her get rid of her worried feelings. Jan prayed with all her heart. As she prayed, something wonderful began to happen.

Jan felt someone was comforting her. All of the worried and frightened feelings started to go away. Who do you think was comforting Jan? Jan’s family moved and she made friends and loved her new home.

The first article of faith tells about the Holy Ghost. We can all feel the Holy Ghost if we but listen. How can you feel the Holy Ghost? Where would you not be able to feel the Holy Ghost? Are there places he won’t go?

“If ye will enter in by the way [baptism], and receive the Holy Ghost, it will ___________ unto you all things what ye should do.” (2 Nephi 32:5) “Verily, verily, I say unto you, I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with _____________.” (D&C 11:13) “The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost..., shall __________ you all things, and bring all things to your __________, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26) “Put you trust in that Spirit which leadeht to do __________ - yea, to do justly, to walk humbly, to __________ __________; and this is y Spirit.” (D&C 11:12)

“And by the power of the Holy ghost ye may __________ __________ _____________ of all things.” (Moroni 10:5)

If you are in the mall and get separated from your family, what should you do? Is there someone who can help you feel comforted? How will this help? If you are worried about taking a test, what should you do? How will this help? If you someone asks if you would like to go to their house but you don’t feel good about it, who is it that is telling you this?

If you are going for a walk in the woods and come to a place where you are not sure which way to turn and your map doesn’t help, what should you do? If you are performing in a play and are very afraid to go out on the stage, what should you do? The Holy Ghost will guide you but you must always listen!
