EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY, ADO-EKITI MEMORANDUM PRESENTED TO THE UNIVERSITY INTERNALLY GENERATED REVENUE SUMMIT BY THE PROVOST, COLLEGE OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES PROF. E.O. OGUNLEYE

2.0Current Status of IGR at the College of Postgraduate Studies i.All newly admitted Postgraduate students are made to pay a total sum of five thousand, two hundred naira (N5, ) each, for Abstract, Prospectus and Guideline. ii. The College of Postgraduate Studies just introduced a compulsory annual due of ten thousand naira (N10, ) only, payable by all Postgraduate students for the running of the College. iii.The proposed five percent (5%) of the revenue generated through school fees paid by Postgraduate Students which is to be remitted to the College as approved by Senate along with the restructuring has not been forthcoming to the College.

3.0Evaluation of the Activities in Terms of Revenue Generation in the College ◦ Efforts are being intensified by the College of Postgraduate Studies to ensure compliance on the part of the students in respect of the payment of the N10, Postgraduate due.

4.0Challenges in Meeting the Expected Results i.The non-remittance of the 5% of the revenue generated through school fees paid by students has created a lot of set-back to the activities of the College. ii.Inadequate human resources in the College. iii.The IGR of the College has also been affected by the poor level of the internet facilities in the University, coupled with irregular academic calendar.

5.0Suggestions on Ways by which the IGR Base of the College can be improved i.Postgraduate programmes should be introduced in all the Departments of the University especially Postgraduate Diploma Programmes. Postgraduate Diploma programme is recommended to be introduced in Auditing and Taxation in the Department of Accounting. This is yet to be run in any Southwest University. This will be an opportunity for those in the ministries handling specialized Accounting functions to develop themselves. ii.The professional Masters’ programmes (MBA, MPA, MILR, MEM and MIT) should be made more viable to attract more applicants, which will in turn improve the IGR of the College. a. Timely release of scores by lecturers and computation of results for approval by the officers involved. b. A review of admission requirements in line with what obtain in sister universities. 

iii.Advanced Diploma programmes should be introduced in the areas like, Health services, Local Government administration, Accounting and Banking and Finance which will be targeted mainly at the personnel in those areas. iv.Postgraduate College should get involved in researches and consultancy programmes to both Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations. v.The College should organize periodic seminars/workshops which will in-turn fetch money for the College.

vi.The College of Postgraduate Studies should have its own portal for easy accessibility by prospective candidates. Competent hands should also be engaged to manage the portal. vii.Laboratory facilities should be made available at all the Departments running Postgraduate programmes especially those in Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Engineering, Sciences and Social Sciences. It has been observed that Postgraduate students travel far to neighboring universities only to spend much on their researches, since such facilities are not available here in Ekiti State University th January, 2016 SIGNED: Prof. E.
