Greek/Roman Mythology Scorpio and Orion where combined into one myth. The story states that Orion said that he would kill every animal on earth. The goddess Artemis and her mom, Leto let loose a scorpion that would kill Orion. After that Zeus put the Scorpion in the heavens and won its battle.

Other Myths A different myth states that the god Apollo which is the twin brother of Artemis, sent out the scorpion because Orion said he was a better hunter than Apollo. Therefore he put both Scorpio and Orion in the sky even though you see them at different times of year.

Facts In Chinese this constellation was part of the Azure Dragon, which is a Chinese constellation. People in Indonesia call this constellation Benyakangrem that means the brooded swan. In Hawaii it also doesn’t represent a scorpion either it represents a demigods fish hook.
