Our Current Governing Body National Coordinating Council (19) –Representatives (11) from each geographic region –One representative from each Cultural Group (2) –Youth and Young Adults (1) –Executive Council (5) Executive Council Members: Officers and National Ecclesial Assistant National Committees
Our Discernment Process About our current governing body: Does not adequately represent CLC-USA members An affiliation of independent bodies that is not “one body” Not able to fully discern for the body Non conformance to mandate of the WCLC as stated in General Norms Does not well engage members in governance
National Delegate Assembly “The National Community is governed by a National Assembly…” General Norms, Government,13b Manageable number of discerned delegates + ExCo Ensures the structures and formation for life, unity, and growth of the body and an effective participation in the mission of the Church Ordinary process is communal discernment
National Delegate Assembly: Functions Responsible for membership in and admission to the national community Goals and means of the national community Relationship with the hierarchy and WCLC Process for choosing leaders and making decisions Term: from one Assembly to another
Re-Formed Executive Council “The National Community is governed by a National Assembly and Executive Council” General Norms, Government, 13 Carries out policies and directions of the National Delegate Assembly Discerning body that acts as ongoing governing body Provides oversight of National Office Composed of Executive Officers and selected representatives
National Offices Secretariats may be established by National Communities for the purposes of coordination, counsel, and promotion. General Norms, Sec. D, #37 Provide services to support the functioning and growth of CLC-USA Administration and management functions Possible offices: formation, communications, advancement, apostolic action, finance, administration/records
