Overview of Curriculum

Math Fractions – adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. GCF and LCM of fractions Decimals – adding and subtracting Place value - from billionths to billions Ratios Comparing and rounding numbers and fractions Roman numerals Geometry (shapes, measuring angles) Measurement (Standard and Metric)

Religion » Sacraments A. Initiation B. Healing C. Service Mary A. Devotion B. Prayers C. Her titles D. Symbols E. Days in her honor F. Shrines to her (Our Lady of Guadalupe)

Social Studies The focus is on the geographical development of the United States, Canada and Latin America (Mexico and Central America, South America and the Caribbean Islands). Attention is given to the physical, political, social, economic and cultural geography of these areas. Attention is also given to history.

Science Life Science – comparing living things, reproduction, adaptations. Physical Science - force, motion, light, sound, states of matter Earth Science – the changing earth, climate, astronomy The Human Body – respiration and excretion; healthy living

English Language Arts (ELA) Journeys Reading Series Teacher Web will lead to you to Lesson Focus Wall Each story vocab will be posted Reading and grammar assessments; spelling tests E-book on Think Central to review all skills

Tests Always posted beforehand Expected to study over time Completed in black or blue pen or pencil Tests sent home weekly (Wed.)in test folder to be signed and returned. Please discuss each test with your child.

Grading Check grades on Grade Book frequently Absence will appear as a missed grade until it is made up and average will be lowered. Questions about grades, me on teacher web page Rubrics used for projects
