Tips for middle school students BY: Madison Cromer

Language arts/Accelerated reader Language arts is as easy as you make it. You have to pay attention to the tips your teacher gives you on test taking and the types of questions there are, so you will know how to answer them. Accelerated reading is something I've never liked to much but I have put up with it and shoot for the goal that my teachers have assigned for me. You just have to keep focuse d and read plenty of books.

Math/ Accelerated Math You really have to pay attention in math. Eighth grade is the year you are introduced into algebra. You have to keep very focused so you will know all the functions etc. you will need for real algebra class at the high school. For accelerated math you have to take your time and work out each problem. You have to bubble in a scan card and scan it and hope to get a good grade. So, take your time and ask questions if needed.

Social studies Social studies has always been a interesting subject to me. Make sure to take notes on all the stuff in your textbooks and on your teachers lesson that day. They might seem like a waste of time at the moment but, in the long run they will really help when it comes to studying for a test.

Science Science is a very fun subject. You get to watch and conduct many experiment. Make sure to use all safety procedures while doing experiments so that nothing bad will happen.

Lunch I would suggest packing you own lunch at home because the cafeteria food can be kinda unpredictable. You will never know if its good or not.

Lockers Bring pictures and magnets from home to personalize your locker.

Bathrooms We just got new restrooms and we have kept them in pretty good condition. Try to keep them that way or the teachers might not let you use them without them out in the hallway anymore.

Exploratories Exploratories are special classes outside of your core classes. They are not really that hard just pay attention so you can keep your grade up.

Clubs There are lots of clubs you can join. Some of them like HJHS you have to have good grades for. Some of the clubs are: Yearbook Theater HJHS Quiz Bowl History bowl And many more

Sports Sports can be really fun. You gave to be in 7 th or 8 th grade to play though. Sports you can play: Cheer leading Track Baseball Basketball Volleyball Softball soccer

Busses Busses are another way of transportation to get from home to school and back. I suggest getting your parents to drive you to school if possible. The bus can get kinda crazy !

Field trips Field trips can be very fun. But, you have to listen to the teachers or any adult that is looking after you. If you don't listen they will not like taking you on anymore.

Favorite memory at HJM MY favorite memories at hj are track and the 8 th grade semi formal. Get involved in sports and clubs so you can make great memories too!

Favorite teachers at HJM My favorite teachers here have been: Mrs. Fortescue Mrs. Collins Mrs. Davis

Finals words of advice DO YOUR BEST WITH WHAT EVER YOU DECIDE TO DO.
