FY 2017 EAP Proposals 1.Methodology to Assess Sediment Loads 2.Suncrest Sediment Nutrient Study 3.Spokane River at Nine Mile Groundwater Study

Other Updates… Biennial Report ◦Published but…. ◦Do you want me to mail you a copy? ◦Any suggestions on how best to inform the public? Suncrest Study ◦The USGS is putting the draft report through internal quality assurance reviews. ◦The report will be public in December. Lake Spokane Water Quality Attainment Plan 2014 Annual Report ◦Avista’s report is on the FERC website. Funding cycle open ◦Annual funding cycle closes 2 weeks from Friday on Oct. 16 th at 5 pm. ◦Facility project applicants are allowed a 3-week extension to complete and submit plans ◦let me know if you have questions!

Monitoring Group First meeting on November 3, 10:00 am, Ecology’s office Participants should have a technical background Group discussion will center on: ◦Having good boundary data (outlet of Lake Coeur d’Alene, state line, tributaries, dischargers, etc.) ◦Issues related to model inputs (areas where improvements with additional data could be made) ◦What data to collect before the 10-year assessment & during the assessment ◦Validating model performance ◦Studies related to model inputs

Nonpoint Source Activities Projects Funded: ◦Spokane CD / SRF - Implementation and BMP tracking/online mapping tool ◦Stevens County CD – Lake Spokane implementation and monitoring ◦City of Spokane – Spokane Gorge planting ◦The Lands Council – Hangman riparian work and stormwater education

Nonpoint Source Workgroup Nonpoint Plan ◦required to continue received 319 grants from EPA ◦Ecology will continue to use technical and financial assistance and enforcement to reduce nonpoint sources of pollution. ◦Includes a strategy to develop recommended BMPs for agriculture. Clean Water and Livestock Operations: Assessing Risks to Water Quality ◦Goal is to increase the public’s understanding of the site conditions Ecology staff use to determine if livestock are causing water quality impairments. ◦The site conditions are presented on a risk-based spectrum from compliance to likely water quality violation.

Nonpoint Source Workgroup Interim Targets (formerly measurable progress) 1.Inputs are now called Activities, which are the things the group is doing to achieve the targets. 2.Outputs were renamed to Interim Targets. ◦Type & # of BMPs installed ◦Increase in public’s WQ knowledge and perception ◦Increase in # of areas with contiguous BMPs 3.There is a separate column for Interim Target Goals. 4.Does not have outcomes
