Step 1 Popcorn costs $0.75 a box. Carl and Diane each bought 1 box popcorn at the ball game. Carl brought 3 cans of juice and Diane bought 2 cans of juice during the game. Each cost the same. They spent a total of $5.25. What did they pay for each can of juice.

Step 2 Take $5.25 and subtract what we know they already spent, which is $0.75 each. This gives us $3.75 to work with. Then divide $3.75 by 5, giving us $0.75. From this we can conclude that both the popcorn and juice cost $0.75 each.
