–information flow, granularity, egocentricity, external memory & mental maps, regularity & familiarity. The TOWEL project the notion of travel and mobility on the Web. Travel: navigation and orientation with purpose within an environment. Mobility: is the ease at which travel can be accomplished. Travel in the virtual, Web world Travel in the real, physical world. The aim of this project is to improve the mobility of visually impaired Web users by providing tool support for the provision of mobility. We are proposing a framework for analysing travel support offered within a Web page. This framework will be the foundation for such a tool support. Aim Travel and Mobility

A Model of Real World Travel Travel Objects Way point, decision, way edge, navigation, orientation, reference, location & position, direction, distance, identification, alert, attention, information, travel assistants, travel aid, travel memory, travel support. Mobility techniques and action Consulting and reviewing, landmark recognition and avoidance. Mobility instruments In-journey guidance, previewing, probing and feedback. Logo, title bannerBig Ben, sculpturesReference points Colour boundariesWalls, fencesWay edge Web-worldReal-worldRole Examples:

Travel Analysis Framework It is based upon the model of real world travel. It is comprised of two stages: 1. Identifying travel objects and creating a travel object inventory; 2. Classifying each travel object in the created inventory. Evaluation of the Framework Demonstrated that the analysis process encapsulated in the framework is consistent and systematic, therefore can be used as the basis of a mobility support tool.

A Mobility Support Tool 1. Identify travel objects- a Web page will be inspected for extracting travel objects; 2. Classify- the role (s) of the extracted travel objects will be identified; 3. Annotate- the extracted travel objects will be annotated; 4. Transform- the page will be transformed into another form so that travel objects can fulfill their intended roles.
