Think about one of the following: a) Something you know a lot about – a concept or idea b) Something you know how to do well – a skill Examples – “I know how to drive a car.” “I know a lot about gardening.” “I know how to cross stitch.” “I know a lot about accounting”

Why is it you are confident about your abilities and knowledge? When you need to learn something new, whether a skill or knowledge, what is the most challenging part of the learning process?

 Who is in this story?  What was the problem?  What was the solution?  What can I learn?

 There are two main characters ◦ What do you know about each of them? ◦ How are they similar? ◦ How are they different? ◦ What circumstances brought the two of them together?

 What was the source of the problem?  How could this problem have been avoided?  Does the problem lead to positive or negative results?

 How is the problem solved?  What might have happened if the problem had gone unsolved?  What had to happen before this story in order for Philip to be prepared to be part of the solution?

 What can we learn to obey?  What examples can we follow?  Where does this story connect to my present life?

 My son, [daughter] if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

James 1:22  But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves Revelation 1:3  Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. Isaiah 28:9-10  To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, those taken from the breast?
