Slavery started in the 18 th century. Loads of Africans were took captive from their homes. They had a route from one country to the other Slavery was miserable, they got beat, lived in poor conditions and were taken away from their family. Slaves could express their selves by making up beats. For example they would clap on 1 and 3 and then stomp their feet on 2 and 4. They would stomp their feet as their anklets would make a jingle. Slaves made their own instruments and had popular ones as well. The most popular instrument was the drums. They would make a scraper by using animas jaw bones and a stick. Music played an important part in slaves life as they could express their feelings and their emotions. The slaves were freed in 1864, but life was still hard for them as they were homeless and lived a life of poverty. Also they didn't have no where to live as people saw them as nasty creatures.

John Lee Hooker had no children and died in Robert Johnson was a passionate blues singer and a brilliant guitarist. In addition he was also a songwriter. He was born on the 8 th of may 1911 in Mississippi. He was growing up as an African – American in America. Between Robert began to move in to bigger cities to get his blues career started. Sadly, Robert died on the august 16 th 1938 at the age of just 27.
Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues singer. He was born on the 30 th of march 1945 in surrey. Eric is a recipient of 18 Grammy awards. Eric is not dead yet and he is till living at the age of 70. Muddy waters (stage name) was born on the 4 th of April 1913 in Mississippi. He was an American blues singer. In 1943 muddy packed his bags and went down to Chicago to fulfil his dreams of becoming a musician. In 1958 muddy headed down to London and when he played his loud electric guitar he surprised the audiences. Sadly, he died on the 30 th of april 1983 at the age of 70.
