What’s my concern? Clean up local park Help a rat rescue Volunteer at the King County Animal shelter Wrestling tournament?
My Goal I decided to help out at the State Wrestling Tournament on May 16 th. My job will be to run the bout sheets to be recorded, watch and make sure the score keepers are watching the referee, and help Mr. France (AMHS wrestling coach) get everything ready. This event begins at 9 am and goes until 6 pm.
What did I do? Ran bout sheets Recorded scores on the thingy “Tapped” the ref to tell him that a match was over. (Using a towel) Talked to one of the adult volunteers about the sport and learned a lot.
Before it all began… This was taken at around 9:30 or so when the wrestlers were all warming up for their matches.
During… This was a little later when all the parents began to sit down and when everything was about to start.
During… This is when everyone got their assignment and I was at table #1
7 long hours…
WERE ALMOST DONE!!!
Follow Up I had a lot of fun doing this project. I had several of my friends there and for awhile it was very boring but I ended up being positive about it and having fun. We were provided with some food and I brought my own. The event actually began around 10 am and only lasted until about 5 so I spent around 7 hours watching wrestling.
(cont.) I ran the bout sheets to the officials and they entered the scores and I helped run other table’s bout sheets to the officials. So I was running around AMHS for about 5 out of the seven hours and the other two I was sitting watching the match making sure that the score keeper at our table got everything that the ref. said.
(cont.) All in all I think this benefited the community by helping Mr. France and all the wrestlers from around the state. I felt like I was a part of what they were doing because without the volunteers they may not have had accurate scores.
THE END This was a great experience and I learned a lot about wrestling that I didn’t know before.
