Engaging Engineering Interest Invite your Counselors to be part of EVERYTHING! 7 Quick Steps to Promote STEM: 1.P. eek student interest with “exposure and passion”. 2.R.e-arrange your schedule in favor of working with staff and counselors in PBL and STEM presentations. 3.O.utreach, Connect to Community Events, and Community Service. 4.M.ake sure to take advantage of big events by having a presence there; air shows, county fairs, etc., or better yet, create your own! 5.O.n-going relationships with STEM industry partners that may offer grants, guest speakers, field trips, and mentors. 6.T. ell the community about student work through “showcases and exhibitions”. 7.E.stablish portfolios through STEM Premier to highlight accomplishments, and get students to pair with counselors as “mentors”.

Step 2 Ideas: R.e-arrange your schedule in favor of working with staff and counselors in PBL and STEM presentations.  Use your PLTW Knowledge and Resources to help other staff make a connection across the curriculum.  Be willing to facilitating scheduling or other administrative tasks in your STEM classes; often it’s where there is tech.  Volunteer for PBL Presentations, and curriculum demos with your peers.  Sharing the nature of STEM projects and resources. Step 3 Ideas: O.utreach, Connect to Community Events, and Community Service.  Showcasing your Projects in Community forums  Network with community groups, and offer to demonstrate student work, and provide information and data regarding your program.
