 Rhodes, Greece  The colossus was built between 303 and 291 B.C.  All that is left are some stone blocks used as the base.

 Built by the sculptor Charas of Lindos  Built to commemorate their victory in a siege against Macedonians  Worked like a Lighthouse so ships could se the port of Rhodes from far away

 The structure was to honor the Sun God Helios  It took 12 years to complete the structure  It was built with terra cotta molds

 The statue of Liberty is very similar to what the Colossus of Rhodes what have looked like  This structure is apart of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
