What have we learned? 1.Writing objectives is important (science) -They help us to organize -They guide instruction -They help our students -They help us write valid evaluations 2.Teaching methodology should be planned and administered properly (art & science) 3.Proper testing has guidelines to follow (science) Let’s finish our testing unit!

Test Assembly -Group together items of similar format -Provides for one set of directions per section -Students don’t “switch gears” -Grading is simplified -Arrange the test from easy to hard -Confidence is built -Anxiety is lowered -Space the items for easy reading -Start new sections on new pages -Kill some trees -Keep items and options on the same page -Position illustrations near descriptions

Test Assembly -Check your answer key -Look for patterns & randomness -How will students record answers? -On the test -Separate sheets or scantron sheets -Ease in scoring -Use the test again -Familiarizes students with standardized test process -Provide a space for name and date -Check your directions -Proofread -Make extras -File an original (computer & hard copy)

Test Administration -Keep a positive attitude -“It’s obvious you haven’t studied … let’s take a test” -“Study hard … I want you to be successful” -Avoid surprises -What are benefits of “pop” quizzes? -Secondary students have many classes with many teachers per day … -Rotate distribution -Remind students to check their copies -Monitor -Minimize distractions -Give time warnings
