Clear Container

Bottom layer: drainage layer of gravel, 1/2 inch deep

Team members take turns.

Second layer: thin layer of leaf litter

Teams share the responsibility of making and caring for terrariums.

Third layer: 2 inches of soil

Create one low hill to plant tree seedling.

Plant seedling.

Add moss around base of the tree seedling.

Model how students will draw and describe each layer.

Adjustable dial to let in air.

Mist terrariums daily.

Steps for Creating …

Add 2 7oz. cups of gravel to create “floor.”

Slope rocks at one end; cover with a 6” square paper to diffuse water.

Slowly add water to the middle of each tank.

Poke a hole in the gravel with your finger for the sprigs.

Cut off some of the sprigs if they are very long.

Put aquarium and terrarium in designated area
