I want to be a Junior! In order to be classified as a Junior, you must have: * completed English I and II * completed 2 math credits * completed 8 additional units for a minimum of 12 total credits

Important!!! Please do not rely on Summer School to become a Junior! Did you know that you must have at least a 55 in the class you fail in order to even attend Summer School? Anything lower, Summer School is not even an option!

NEW CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR: ENGLISH DEPT Survey of African American Writing: draws upon a compilation of genres, themes, styles and language used by various writers of African American descent. Technical & Workplace Writing: focuses on the various kinds of written communication currently occurring in a variety of workplaces and careers. Survey of 20 th Century Writing: covers major writers and themes in the Americas and Western Europe for the period from WWI to present time. SREB Literacy Ready: helps college bound students reach their state’s benchmarks

NEW CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR: SCIENCE DEPT Astronomy: a survey of modern astronomy introducing topics from our solar system and other planetary systems, galaxie, the evolution of stars, and the methods and technology used to explore planetary and stellar processes. AP Physics II

NEW CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR: Academic Enrichment: ACT Prep I: designed to help students obtain an ACT score of at least a 20. Students should have scored no higher than a 20 on either the ACT or pre- ACT. ACT Prep II: designed to help students obtain an ACT score of at least a 29. Students should have scored in the mid 20’s on either the ACT or pre-ACT. Students who have taken the PSAT class are not eligible.

iCAP Each student has an iCAP (Individual Career and Academic Plan) on file. The iCAP was completed by you based on your interests at the time. You may view your iCAP through your ActiveStudent account. It offers a list of suggested courses to take in order to prepare you for your desired career field. Therefore, may assist you when picking classes for next year.

Food for thought! The BEST way to increase your ACT score……….. take challenging courses! Don’t take the easy way out and take easy courses! And don’t forget: a 20 on the ACT equals FREE tuition at Holmes CC!

What you can do to prepare for college:  Build your resume get involved in school and the community  Work on your ACT however, ACT says not to take the test until you are a junior  Work on your GPA  Come see us with questions
