Marketing the product By Ryan Porter

Graphics cards (video card) A graphics card is an expansion card which puts out images to a display. They’re made up of millions of tiny dots called pixels, and the computer has to decide what to do with everyone to create an image. The job of a graphics card is complex, but it’s components are easy to understand.

Graphics tablets A graphics tablet is a an input device used by artists which allows them to draw a picture onto a computer screen without having to use a mouse or keyboard. Also repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome are less likely using a graphics tablet. The stylus is also an important consideration for the consumer.

Digital cameras A digital camera is like a normal camera but more advanced. The quality on the pictures you take are better and the film is better quality also. They store pictures digitally than on a film then be downloaded on to a computer system then manipulated with a graphics program.

printers A printer is a device which can be connected to a mechanical device to print out images or text which you want on to a piece of paper. There are many different categories of printer these are; daisy-wheel, dot-matrix, ink-jet, laser,LCD&LED, line printer and thermal printer.

monitors A monitor is the screen which you see when using a computer. There are many ways to classify monitors. The most basic is in terms of colour capabilities, which separates monitors into three classes; Monochrome, gray-scale and colour. After this classification, the most important aspect of a monitor is its screen size. Screen sizes are measured in diagonal inches, the distance from one corner to the opposite corner diagonally.

CD- rom CD- rom stands for Compact Disc-Read- Only Memory. It’s a type of optical disk which can store up to 1gb (the most common size is 650 mb.) CD - roms are stamped and once stamped they cannot be erased and filled with new data. You can load any type of CD into a CD-rom player. They conform to a standard size and format.

HDD and Memory SD Cards. In a computer, a hard disk drive (HDD) is the mechanism that controls positioning, reading, and the writing of the hard disk, which furnishes the largest amount of data storage for the PC. A SD card is a small flash memory card which can be inserted into phones, mp3’s, iPod's and many other things. It’s designed to have lots of memory in such a small card.

Vector graphic software (corel draw, visio) Vector imaging is one of the major graphic software's in the world. Vector graphics uses geometrical things such as lines, points, curves and shapes, which is all based on mathematical equations. Common vector editors include; Adobe illustrator (AL); CorelDraw (CDR); Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM); Shockwave Flash (SWF); DXF (AutoCAD and other CAD software's). Also Microsoft office Visio (Visio). All these use vector graphics to design/create diagrams.

Bitmap software (paint shop pro,Paint, GIMP) Bitmap is a map of bits or dots (suggests why name is bitmap). Bitmap makes something which might not be an image look like an image if you look at it from a distance. Most images are created using Bitmap. For simple monochrome images, one bit is sufficient to represent each dot.

Photo manipulation software (photoshop) Photo manipulation is an application where photo’s or images are edited by using a range of techniques to create illusions or to change the whole idea of the image. This works by using analog or digital means.

Comparing the softwares All of the softwares have their uses in marketing a product. A useful thing about Bitmap is creating effects that are realistic such as shadowing and intensifying colours because they use individual pixels. A useful thing about Vector graphics is you can resize your image before you go to print and it doesn’t reduce the quality. Photo manipulation software (photoshop) is useful for the fact that its brilliant for editing and cropping images. For example layering and using the magic wand tool.

Choosing the best software In the last 3 slides I’ve described 3 of the most used graphicing software's worldwide. In my opinion Photoshop is the best graphicing software because there’s such a variety of techniques available that you can virtually edit a photo in any way you want. Also Photoshop is incredibly easy and fun to use.

Converting files

The need for converting files You need to convert file types to other different file types because a website or program might require a certain file type.E.g. To upload a video to YouTube you have to have a avi. File. Also the size of files are different so if you don’t have enough space to save something then you can change the file type so something won’t take up as much space. In conclusion some file types can store more challenging information than others. Also different files have different upload speeds and better quality.

Different file types There are lots of different file types that store data which can be viewed and edited..jpeg- JPEG graphics file.- It’s usually used to compress digital images and can be used in a variety of ways..png- Graphics file- This is a bitmapped image format. It was made to transfer images from something on to the internet. It works by using lossless data impression..gif- GIF image file- Is a bitmap image format and is mostly used on the internet due to its wide support and its portability..bmp-Bit-map- Bit-map is used to store bitmap images and is able to store 2D images with colour and monochrome.

File sizes file size is the size of a computer file. It is usually measured in bytes. The size of a file usually on the file system size or the file type. File size unit- KB (kilobytes-1000 bytes),MB (megabytes-1000 kilobytes), GB (Gigabytes megabytes), TB (terabyte-1000 gigabytes). There are also; EB (Exabyte), YB (Yottabyte), PB (Petabyte), ZB (Zettabyte).

The comparisons of file types All the files in the slides are used in graphics, png. and JPEG are useful as they need less space because of lossy compression. Where as gif. Is easy to move around the internet as there is loads of support for it. So when you want to attach an image to an you’d use gif. If you wanted to store an exact image you would use bmp. But there’s a negative thing as it takes up more file space.
