12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 ANKOS Librarian Exchange Program Introduced in 7th ANKOS Meeting, 2011 Outline of the program was created by the Collaboration Group of ANKOS Program is planned to be in operation after mid-2012

12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 To share best practices and know-how on electronic services and their presentation to users in academic libraries To enable the librarians gain the skills for their professional development in the electronic library era To share and compare ideas about the applications, products and implementations in libraries To create and raise the common knowledge level among the librarians To help to improve social connections between librarians Aim of ALEP

12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 METHODS Exchange (1-6 weeks) - Librarians working in same areas - Librarians working in different areas Visit (1-2 days) -When a matching exchange is not possible

12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 PROCEDURE ANKOS invites libraries to join the program. A protocol is signed by ANKOS and the libraries Librarians apply to ANKOS by filling the web form, in the announced schedule ANKOS blind reviews the applications and manages the peering of exchanges and visits Expenses are covered by visitor’s institution. Hosts institutions support accomodation when possible Visits and financial support are confirmed by the library managements After the visits done, each visitor and host conducts a report and submits to both parties and ANKOS

12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 WHO CAN APPLY? Personnel of ANKOS member libraries Graduates of Information and Documentation Management or another 4 year programme At least 4 years of work experience in libraries

12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 LONG TERM PLANS International extention of the program is considered for the future Financial support by private and public funds and EU must be seeked in order to solidate the persistence and success of the program Integrating this progam with ERASMUS and other EU programs

12 th SELL Meeting Thessaloniki 15 th – 16 th June, 2012 PILOT PROGRAM 2012 First visits within ALEP program will be made between 9-14 July 2012 First visit will be hosted by 3 libraries (Istanbul Bilgi, Koç and Özyegin Universities) Will take 6 days, 2 days for each host. Accomodation will be provided by host institutions, in-city transportation is paid by ANKOS. Other expenses are covered by visitors’ institutions
