Evaporation vs. Condensation, energy flow, Warming vs. Cooling Savanna Cornett Jillian Malloy Ben Lloyd Alex Combs
Evaporation vs. Condensation Evaporation is the cooling process. Evaporation has a phase change from liquid to a gas. Heat energy is absorb by the liquid causing it to become a gas. Condensation has a phase change from gas to liquid. Condensation is the warming process. Heat energy is released by the gas when it condenses into a liquid.
Energy Flow Heat flows from hot to cold until both substances are the same temperature. Energy must be put into a substance to change its phase from solid to liquid to gas. Energy must be extracted from a substance to change its phase from a gas to liquid to solid.
Warming vs. Cooling Warming Releases thermal energy. Cooling Absorbs thermal energy.
