(What it Means to be Catholic) Sacraments (What it Means to be Catholic)

Learning Goals: I will understand the role of the sacraments in the life journey of all Catholics. (Especially the sacraments of initiation and healing) I will understand the importance of religious symbol and ritual in sacramental life.

Sacraments are: Community celebrations of significant moments in our lives, especially as Catholics Visible signs of God’s presence in our lives Meetings or personal encounters with Jesus The continuing actions of Jesus in the world today There are signs and symbols representing each sacrament

Types of Sacraments There are 3 types of sacraments Sacraments of Initiation: - these are sacraments that deepen our faith and welcome us into the church community 2) Sacraments of Healing: - these sacraments allow us to be healed physically and spiritually so that we can continue to follow the will of God 3) Sacraments of Vocation: - these are sacraments that allow us to dedicate our lives, for the Glory of God

Signs of the Sacraments Signs of the sacraments are things or actions that indicate we are receiving a sacrament,
